Loop acquires Wonderment to build a better future for eCommerce
It's 1990 and I'm 7 years old. I’m hanging a cardboard sign in my front lawn. "WORLD'S BEST YARD SALE!!!" it proclaims.
My mission is simple: earn myself an Easy-Bake Oven. The commercials repeat in my mind: perfectly baked miniature cakes emerging from that purple and white plastic miracle. But with three kids to feed, my parents' usual response to my begging is a gentle "maybe for Christmas." I know what that means.
So here I am, setting up shop with items I've "curated" from around our house. My mom's vintage serving tray, my dad's old tools, my sister’s prized Lisa Frank trapper keeper (sorry, sis). Each item carefully arranged on our driveway like treasures in a museum.
But as I stand there, staring at my "WORLD'S BEST" sign, my stomach twists. How could I possibly live up to that promise? Something inside me knows that just selling nicknacks isn't enough.
So I set up an extra table and offer shoppers a customized, hand-drawn poster of unicorns and rainbows with their names on it. I serve free lemonade in cups decorated with hearts. I bounce from person to person asking, "Can I help you find anything special today?"
Yes, I was a dork from birth.
People smile. They stand and connect with a weird, dangly seven-year-old. They stay and shop and buy all my parent’s stuff! Some of them even come back and bring friends.
I realized at that moment, I wasn’t just selling things, I was selling an experience.
That seven-year-old's obsession with creating memorable experiences never faded. Today, it drives everything we do at Wonderment.
The journey here
When Wonderment was founded in early 2020, the pandemic had just begun reshaping eCommerce forever.
Supply chain disruptions exposed a critical truth: the delivery experience could make or break customer relationships. With acquisition costs soaring and third-party data crumbling, we saw merchants needed a new path to growth – one built on retention and customer experience.
In the five years since, we've helped over 1,000 brands such as Ridge, Netflix, IGLOO, Aviator Nation, New York & Company, and more deliver proactive, transparent shipping experiences to millions of customers. With our tracking and visibility tools, merchants have reduced support tickets by 40%, increased customer satisfaction, and built stronger relationships with their customers.
But we kept hearing a common challenge: merchants are juggling too many apps, creating disconnected experiences and rising costs. The pre- and post-purchase journey – from order tracking to returns – should be seamless, not siloed.
